What is RICH?
All members of the UW-Madison Police Department are expected to live and breach our RICH mission by operating in a fair, unbiased manner which respects the rights and dignity of all individuals. Department employees’ everyday actions will be guided by the Respect, Integrity, Compassion, and Honor — and be grounded in the highest ethical and professional standards.
Respect: We strive for just enforcement of laws, equal protection of constitutional rights, and reasonable use of force. We are dedicated to the objective, fair, consistent and compassionate treatment of the general public and fellow employees in all of our actions. Department employees are expected to work in partnership with the campus and area communities to provide leadership in solving community problems, preventing crime and providing a safe environment to fulfill the mission of the University. Employees will strive for excellence in fulfilling the department’s mission and vision statements, values, and goals.
