  • 178 custodial arrests
  • 27 incidents involving response to resistance.
  • 0.18% of total incidents involved a response to resistance.
  • 2 incidents where an officer discharged his/her firearm to dispatch injured animals in the Arboretum.

Note: not all Medical Directed response to resistance involves a custodial arrest. Medical Directed responses makes up approximately 26% of all response to resistance incidents this quarter.

The racial breakdown for use-of-force incidents reported for the 3rd quarter of 2016 is: 68% Caucasian; 22% Black; 5% Asian; and 5% Hispanic.


The breakdown for the method of force reported for the 3rd quarter of 2016 is: 37% no weapon used (may include holds, strikes, pressure points, etc.); 26% firearm drawn; 36% Medical Direction Weaponless (force used at the direction of a medical professional to control a resistive patient for medical purposes); 7% Firearm Discharged; 4% Taser Drawn.


The breakdown for the time of day in which use-of-force incidents were reported for the 3rd quarter of 2016 is: 11% between 6 am and noon; 45% between 6 pm and midnight; 33% between midnight and 6 am; 11% between noon and 6 pm.
