UWPD Squad Involved in Crash; No Serious Injuries

On Friday, June 16 at approximately 7:30 a.m., a UWPD squad driven by Lt. Cherise Caradine was struck from behind while stopped in traffic on Highway 19. Lt. Caradine was stopped in traffic waiting to turn left into the Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center in Waunakee, when a vehicle traveling an estimated 50-60 mph struck the rear of her squad.

Lt. Caradine was evaluated at the scene with no apparent injuries, but was subsequently transported by UWPD to an area hospital for further evaluation as a precaution. Lt Caradine’s K9 partner, Casey, was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle was evaluated at the scene and did not report any injuries.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
