UWPD Involved in Pedestrian Incident

On Thursday, May 17, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the UW-Madison Police Department was involved in a pedestrian-vehicle collision on the UW campus.

During a routine traffic stop, an occupant of the stopped vehicle fled. The 15-year-old suspect ran across Park Street, towards the Humanities building – at the same time, a separate UWPD squad was entering the Humanities parking lot. The suspect and squad collided.

The suspect was conscious and breathing at the scene – she was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

Because of UWPD’s involvement, the City of Madison Police Department is investigating the incident.

Per department policy, UWPD has initiated a full review of the officer-involved incident.
