UWPD Makes Arrest Following Armed Robbery
- Incident date: October 28, 2018, 3:40 pm
- Incident type: Armed Robbery
- Location/address: Computer Sciences Building
The UW-Madison Police Department has made an arrest following an armed robbery at the Computer Sciences building.
On Sunday, October 28 at approximately 3:40 p.m., a UW student was approached in a restroom inside the Computer Sciences building — the suspect demanded money and threatened the victim with a knife. The victim was able to get away from the suspect and called 911. An emergency notification (WiscAlert) was sent to campus to keep the community informed.
Investigators immediately searched through security camera footage — the suspect was located in the footage and was seen driving away from campus. An “all-clear” emergency notification was sent to campus, as the immediate threat was over.
Through security camera footage, UWPD officers were able to positively identify the suspect as Momodou Jammeh, 19, of Madison. Jammeh was pulled over by a UWPD officer the night before for not displaying a license plate on his vehicle, and the officer from that stop recognized him on the security camera footage. Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Sunday night, UWPD officers located Jammeh and took him into custody without incident.
Jammeh was booked into the Dane County Jail on tentative charges of armed robbery and 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety.
