Students, staff, and faculty with disabilities are vulnerable, like all members of the campus community, to the various disasters and emergencies that might affect the UW–Madison campus. To mitigate these vulnerabilities, individuals with disabilities should take additional steps to prepare themselves. Preparing for disasters and emergencies is easy — just remember three simple steps: get a kit, make a plan, and be informed.
Evacuation Plan Development
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to create an individual evacuation plan. These plans are designed to meet your specific needs and are offered to any campus community member with a disability. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to create an individual evacuation plan. The goal of the plan is to provide people who (in case of emergency evacuation) cannot get themselves out of a building unaided with the necessary information to manage their escape to a place of safety and to give departments necessary information to ensure that the correct level of assistance is always available.
To begin the process of developing your individual evacuation plan, complete the Emergency Evacuation Questionnaire. You may also contact Vorakiat “Top” Tantivivat via email or by calling 608-263-3021.
