- Incident type: Disorderly Conduct
- Location/address: Sellery Residence Hall
On Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at approximately 2:40 a.m., an unknown man entered Sellery Residence Hall – he “piggybacked” off other residents who were entering the building. Shortly after entering Sellery, the man entered a women’s restroom and pointed a camera at a female resident. She screamed and the suspect fled. Through security camera footage, investigators had determined the suspect had entered several women’s restrooms while inside the residence hall.
Later Wednesday morning, the UW-Madison Police Department located the suspect and identified him as Larry Seidl, 18, of Madison. Seidl was arrested and faces charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing. Additional charges may be added. Any resident of Sellery Hall who believes they may be a victim should contact UWPD.
Seidl is not a UW-Madison student.
The UW-Madison Police Department reminds students and others to protect your fellow Badgers and never allow others to piggyback their way into a residence hall or other secured building. A simple statement like, “I’m sorry, I don’t recognize you – please scan your ID to get into the building” goes a long way in keeping our community safe.
