Men Arrested After Traffic Crash, Eluding Officers

On Wednesday, August 1, at approximately 6:10 p.m., a UWPD officer was on regular patrol when they noticed a stolen vehicle traveling on Park Street near Dayton Street. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped away. As the officer tried to catch up with the vehicle, the suspect vehicle crashed into another vehicle at Park Street and West Washington Avenue. No one was hurt in the crash. The driver and passenger immediately ran from the scene.
Witnesses in the heavily traffic-congested area helped direct officers to where the suspects fled. The driver of the stolen vehicle was caught quickly and taken into custody. The passenger was found a short time later hiding in a dumpster.
The suspects are identified as:

- Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Consent
- Fleeing and Eluding
- Resisting an Officer
- Hit and Run
- Operating after Revocation
- Probation Violation
- Donivan R. Lemons (passenger), 21, of Madison — charged with:
- Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Consent
- Resisting an Officer
- Possession of THC
- Probation Violation
