Student Arrested After Assaulting UWPD Officer

/On Sunday, March 10 at approximately 1:15 a.m., a UWPD officer was dispatched to Witte Hall for a report of an individual who was urinating in a hallway. When the officer arrived, the student, 19-year-old Logan Mitchell, became combative towards the officer and struck him in the face. The officer drew his Taser and when two additional officers arrived, Mitchell was taken to the ground and handcuffed. The officer’s Taser was never used.
Mitchell remained combative throughout the arrest, continuing to try and fight the officers. Mitchell was eventually secured in a UWPD squad and taken to the Dane County Jail.
The officers involved were treated and released at a local hospital – all reported no significant injuries. Mitchell’s BAC measured .20. He was cited for underage drinking, possession of a fake ID, and depositing human waste. He was booked into jail for battery to a police officer, resisting, and resisting causing injury.
