UWPD Arrests Nebraska Man for Sexual Assault, Disorderly Conduct

The UW–Madison Police Department has arrested a Nebraska man following a 4th degree sexual assault in a campus residence hall.
On Sunday, January 30, 2020 at approximately 3:20 a.m., UWPD officers responded to a southeast residence hall for a report of a sexual assault. Officers learned the suspect, Maxwell D. Sanders, 19, Omaha, NE, was invited into a residence hall by a friend. Sanders inappropriately touched another resident and then tried to gain access to other residence hall rooms. The suspect eventually left the residence hall.
UWPD officers positively identified Sanders, located him in another residence hall where he was staying with a friend, and took him into custody. He was booked into the Dane County Jail on tentative charges of 4th Degree Sexual Assault and Disorderly Conduct. Sanders has no affiliation with UW–Madison.
