- Incident type: Theft
- Location/address: Lien Road and E. Springs Drive
The UW-Madison Police Department and the City of Madison Police Department have arrested two individuals following a joint operation Thursday morning, which resulted in the recovery of several stolen high-end and electronic bikes, a motorcycle and an ATV.
Over the last several weeks, UWPD has taken six reports of stolen mopeds and one stolen motorcycle from various locations around campus. Both UWPD and MPD have received multiple leads about stolen items and possible suspects that may be located at tent encampment sites on Madison’s east side.
Thursday’s joint operation started around 7:00 a.m. UWPD and MPD officers specifically searched near the area of Lien Road and E. Springs Drive. Two men — Jonathan L. Cline, 42 and Jeffrey B. Hoffman, 35 — were arrested on outstanding burglary warrants and other charges related to burglaries and thefts.
The ATV recovered at this site was reported stolen out of Sun Prairie two weeks ago. One of the electronic bikes recovered was also reported stolen out of Florida.
UWPD would like to thank our partners with the City of Madison Police Department for their assistance with this operation.
