Robbery Suspect Resists UWPD Officers; Arrested

On Sunday, June 9 at approximately 12:50 a.m., an employee at the Memorial Union was transporting cash to a secure location in the building when an unknown man ran up to her and grabbed the cash. He ran from the scene and was believed to be unarmed. The victim was shaken and sustained minor injuries, but did not require medical treatment.

Thanks to security cameras in the area, UWPD officers and detectives were able to identify the individual – 23-year-old Delmont L. Moore of Madison. Officers spotted Moore near State Street Monday afternoon and attempted to make an arrest. Moore ran, but officers caught up and eventually took him into custody. Moore was booked into the Dane County Jail on tentative felony charges of Robbery and Resisting Arrest – Causing Injury, as well as a Probation Hold.

Three UWPD officers sustained injuries while attempting to take Moore into custody – all three officers were treated and immediately returned to normal duty.
