UWPD Investigating Weapons Violation in the UW-Madison Arboretum

On Saturday, June 15, 2019, at approximately 2:20PM, the UW-Madison Police Department was dispatched to the UW-Madison Arboretum for a weapons violation.

The victim reported a suspect in a black Acura sedan pointed a handgun at them and pulled the trigger. The handgun did not fire and the suspect sped away towards Seminole Highway.  No injuries were reported and there is no evidence a gunshot was fired.

A WiscAlert was sent, advising the campus community of the incident and directing them to avoid the area during the initial response.  A second WiscAlert was sent to the campus community approximately 25 minutes later – once the suspect was confirmed to have left the area, indicating that there was no longer an immediate threat to campus.

UWPD is investigating the incident and the investigation is ongoing.  There is no further information to release at this time.
