UWPD Security Officers play a unique role within the department in providing proactive security services to the campus community. Security officers are formally trained to identify and resolve potential areas of concern on campus (i.e. unlocked buildings, hazards) in order to protect both people and property.
Because of the nature of their roles, Security officers are expected to excel at working independently and within a team.
A number of UWPD leaders began their respective career as a security officer.
