Police Officers hold highly visible positions within the department. Police officers are sworn personnel, certified by the State of Wisconsin, and formally trained to provide a wide range of law enforcement and related services.
Police officers serve in a traditional patrol capacity or within one of a number of specialty units within the department, including but not limited to detectives, community officers, K-9 and campus infrastructure security (i.e. cameras, building access).
No matter the assignment — whether on patrol in the middle of the night or during a Badger Football game — Police officers are expected to understand the seriousness of their roles by consistently upholding the UWPD’s values in carrying out their duties in a professional and conscientious manner.
