- 10:02 am, Graffiti, Lot 206. Graffiti discovered in both bus shelters in Lot 206.
- 11:10 am, Found Property, Community Center. Several electronic devices turned over from University Apartments lost & found and entered into safekeeping.
- 1:08 pm, Theft/Larceny, Kohl Center. Contacted by phone by person who lost a bracelet while working in concession stand at Kohl Center.
- 1:27 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person needing medical assistance, MFR transported to local hospital.
- 1:31 pm, Information, Location Redacted. Received an email regarding potential future student being involved in a scam. Investigation ongoing at this time.
- 3:05 pm, Alarm, Location Redacted. Prior to police arrival, on camera person seen in room holding door open while talking to another person and handing several boxes in to that person inside the room.
- 4:04 pm, Information, Office of Admissions. Received a mandatory report from the Office of Admission.
- 8:38 pm, Check Person, Humanities Building. Contacted/Cited person for UWS closing hours after they were located by UW Security after buildings posted closing hours. Citation issued and explained.
- 12:12 am, Other, W. Johnson Street & Wisconsin Ave. Traffic Stop – Stopped/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party driver for Operating Without Required Lamps Lighted, Operating While Impaired (1st), and Operating With Prohibited Alcohol Content (1st), vehicle legally parked.
- 4:43 am, Operating While Intoxicated, E. Johnson & N. Brearly Street. Incident ongoing at time of briefing release.
Daily Blotter for February 23rd 2026
- 9:38 am, Bail Jumping, Memorial Library. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail person after locating them outside the Memorial Library. attempted to inform person they needed to leave due to campus ban but they refused, consequently arrested.
- 3:58 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person after they were reported being disruptive in their seat, person was intoxicated and incapacitated, transported by patrol vehicle to local hospital for detox evaluation.
- 5:06 pm, Battery, Kohl Center. Person reported another person yelled at them and hit them in the arm, dispute over fan etiquette, follow up plan in place with all parties, probably cause for disorderly cause and (likely) battery.
- 5:27 pm, Alarm, Location Redacted. Made contact with staff and confirmed door was secure.
- 8:18 pm, Other, Local Hospital. Assumed command as local ER went into red status. Stood by and assisted outside agencies until they could get additional officers to the ER.
- 10:11 pm, Graffiti, HC White. Security reported stickers protesting Gaza and Immigration enforcement with fake advertisements for ICE recruitment placed on the inside elevator door of Elevator 1.
- 11:57 pm, Found Property, UWPD. Retrieved found iPhone 13 pro max from UWPD Dispatch, placed into property as safekeeping, owned by UW-Madison, DoIT notified to determine proper owner.
- 1:08 am, Operating While Intoxicated, Johnson St. & East Campus Mall. Traffic Stop - Stopped/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party driver for Parking/Standing Where Prohibited, Operating Without Required Lamps Lighted During Hours of Darkness, Operating While Impaired (1st), and Operating With Prohibited Alcohol Content (1st) after observing them stopped with a traffic drum beneath their rear passenger side tire. Verbally Warned for possession of THC (County) and Operating Without License.

- 2:33 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person after being kneed in the back of the head while playing basketball, MFR on scene, MFR transporting to local hospital.
- 10:43 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, W. Gilman Street. Assisted outside agency in contacting/arresting suspect during traffic stop after a traffic complaint was reported on the vehicle. Outside agency arrested driver for OWI 2nd, misdemeanor bail jumping and open intoxicants, vehicle towed by Schmidt’s, outside agency transported to Dane County Jail.
- 11:39 pm, Other, Johnson Street & Wisconsin Ave. Traffic Stop – Stopped vehicle for revoked Registered Owner, cited driver for OAR (forfeiture) and failure to install IID (criminal). Vehicle left legally parked.
- 1:04 am, Other, Gorham & Henry Streets. Traffic Stop - Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail driver for OWI 1st, PAC 1st and driving against traffic (wrong way). Stopped for wrong way driving on one way street.

- 8:30 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported person to local hospital for medical attention after fall.
- 12:21 pm, Other, Location Redacted. Person called UWPD needing assistance trying to reach another person. Call turned over to MPD due to jurisdiction of call location, MFR responded and took over care of person.
- 2:09 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported person to local hospital for medical attention after fall.
- 3:16 pm, Sensitive Crime, Location Redacted. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for Lew and Lascivious behavior, P&P hold placed as person is on probation for the same offenses.
- 5:13 pm, Information, Location Redacted. Contacted person who reported person experiencing mental health crisis, turned case over to outside agency due to jurisdiction. Outside agency conducted welfare check.
- 7:28 pm, Fraud, Lowell Center. Contacted person who reported being scammed out of a large sum of money after they deposited it into a “ghost account that did not belong to them when money was being withdrawn.
- 10:28 pm, Lost Property, Memorial Union. Contacted person after they reported they lost their Mexican Passport, US Tourist Visa, and brown leather passport carrier while at either at the Memorial Union or Kohl Center. Kohl Center and Memorial Union Staff already notified.
- 11:29 pm, Drug Violation, S. Park St. & Vilas Ave. Traffic Stop – Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail driver for Felony Bail Jumping and Possession of THC with intent to Deliver, initial traffic stop for illegible temp tag.
- 1:52 am, Other, W. Johnson & N. Broom Streets. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party with Citations driver for Failure to Obey Traffic Sign (One Way) and Operating While Impaired (1st). Vehicle left legally parked.

- 9:19 am, Theft/Larceny, Humanities Building. Contacted person who advised that a key lock was removed causing damage to a door.
- 9:28 am, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Local Hospital. Local hospital to red status, returned to green shortly after, no security concerns.
- 10:26 am, Alarm, Location redacted. Contacted person who checked room located no issues.
- 10:36 am, Information, Local Hospital. Person wanted to report patients parent made a threatening statement while walking out of the unit today. Statement was not said directly to staff, but to someone they were on the phone with. Informational report at this time, hospital determining if person will be banded due to continue behavior issues.
- 11:08 am, Mental Health Welfare Check, Location Redacted. Contacted person regarding a mental health crisis for another person they were concerned about.
- 11:40 am, Information, Office of Admissions. Received a mandatory report from the Office of Admission.
- 12:08 pm, Graffiti, Sterling Hall. Contacted Physical Plant regarding graffiti found in the second stall in the first floor restroom.
- 4:10 pm, Fraud, Residence Hall. Contacted person after they attempted to purchase something off of Facebook marketplace but never received the item and item was “sent” but was “blocked” by sender, money transaction confirmed.
- 10:02 pm, Other, S. Park & Vilas Ave. Traffic Stop – Stopped/Cited/Released to passenger driver of vehicle for Criminal OAR, citation to be mailed.
- 10:25 pm, Disorderly Conduct, State & N. Lake Streets. Contacted/Cited/Released person for County Disorderly Conduct after observing them pushing another person outside of the Pinkus Marker on State St.
- 12:14 am, Eluding, University & N. Randall Ave. Traffic Stop – Attempted to stop a vehicle for failing to obey traffic signal (wrong way), vehicle self corrected and violated the red traffic signal on Park St and proceeded SB Park St at a high rate of speed violating multiple red traffic signals.
- 1:15 am, Damage to Property, Engineering Hall. Contacted person after they reported flooding in the basement.
- 2:08 am, Check Person, W. Gilman & State Streets. Cited person for Misdemeanor Inhale Nitrous Oxide after observing them walking on State/Gilman inhaling bottle of "Galaxy Gas" nitrous oxide. Citation issued and explained.
- 3:03 am, Operating While Intoxicated, W. Gilman Street. Traffic Stop – Stopped/Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party driver with citations for Failure to Stop for Stop Sign, Improper Left Turn, Operating While Suspended, Operating While Impaired (1st), and Operating with Prohibited Alcohol Concentration (1s).

- 8:02 am, Theft/Larceny, Residence Hall. Cited persons for theft under $100 after observing them plan and steal a McDonald's order from Door Dash that was delivered to Residence Hall belonging to another person.
- 9:24 am, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Northport Drive. K9 deployed assisting outside agency in casing search.
- 3:36 pm, Damage to Property, Morgridge Hall. Door blown open by high winds and exterior glass shattered when it struck stone block on the exterior of the building.
- 4:50 pm, Bail Jumping, Memorial Union. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for misdemeanor bail jumping and trespass to land-remain after notice after there were observed going into Memorial Union where they have an active campus ban.
- 5:29 pm, Motor Vehicle Accident, Observatory Drive. Contacted driver of Metro Bus and vehicle driver after a collision on hair pin corner, both drivers verbally warned for lane deviation.
- 4:40 am, Found Property, UWPD. Wallet turned into UWPD, unable to make contact with owner, placed into property, voicemail left for owner to pick up at UWPD.

- 2:26 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Location Redacted. Contacted outside agency requesting assistance with patient.
- 3:00 pm, Mental Health Welfare Check, Location Redacted. Contacted person experiencing mental health crisis.
- 8:48 pm, Found Property, UWPD. Contacted person turning in found items, property packaged and placed into property for safekeeping.
- 10:09 pm, Information, Location Redacted. Contacted persons regarding concerns about comments and threats made by another person. No police action at this time, report for informational purposes.

- 6:02 am, Damage to Property, Lot 75. Contacted person to report the southern east exit gate arm that was damaged by a bicyclist when the arm closed on the bicyclist while going through gate.
- 9:26 am, Motor Vehicle Accident, Union South. Contacted person regarding delivery truck with a trailer backed into one of the pillars in the loading dock area of the Union, driver did leave information with loading dock staff.
- 12:02 pm, Information, Office of Admissions. Received a mandatory report from the Office of Admission.
- 12:41 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, UWPD. Assisted outside agency with one cell phone examination.

- 8:37 pm, Criminal Damage, Engineering Hall. Contacted person after they found their bike lock broken at the bike racks on the west side of Engineering Hall, scooter not stolen but lock damaged.
- 8:44 pm, Bail Jumping, Memorial Union. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for misdemeanor bail jumping and trespass remain after notice.
- 11:59 pm, Warrant Served, Lot 29. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for Felony bail jumping, possess drug paraphernalia, and 3 felony warrants out of Dane County. Verbally warned suspect for trespass remain after notice and possession of THC.
- 2:46 am, Warrant Served, Arboretum Drive. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for a DOC warrant during contact with persons found inside a vehicle on Arboretum Drive parked in the dark after UW closing hours and no parking on Arboretum Dr. Vehicle left with passenger as driver arrested and transported to DCJ.

- 5:58 pm, Extortion, Location Redacted. Contacted person regarding sensitive photos on explicit app, threatened/extorted for money or would be exposed.
- 7:27 pm, Theft/Larceny, Union South. Contacted person who reported their bike was taken from the south side bike racks by Union South.
- 7:49 pm, Information, Memorial Union. Contacted person reported their keys stolen after setting them down on counter of Rathskeller as she placed food order.

- 9:18 am, Fraud, Vet Diagnostic Lab. Contact with person after being scammed out of almost $6k after someone called and pretended to be their hometown County Sheriff’s department saying they missed jury duty and will be arrested if they didn't pay, payments being disputed.
- 10:24 am, Theft/Larceny, Lot 17. Contact person regarding their wallet being stolen from their vehicle out of Lot 17.
- 10:38 am, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Location Redacted. Assisted with family during sensitive case.
- 11:08 am, Other, Gordon Commons. Gordon Commons - Contacted person who received a phone call from an unknown person regarding bomb threat, notifications made, MO, UCOM, EOD sweep with negative findings, investigation ongoing.
- 11:17 am, Theft/Larceny, McClain Center. Contacted person regarding their backpack that was taken from the McClain Center.
- 2:01 pm, Found Property, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Purse turned in outside Lily's. Successfully returned to owner.
- 2:08 pm, Other, K9 Deployment. K9 sweep of area for bomb threat.
- 6:56 pm, Criminal Damage, Birge Hall. Contacted/Cited person for Criminal Damage to Property after they called UWPD reporting they accidentally threw a snowball which broke an exterior window in a room in Birge Hall Botany Lab.
- 9:36 pm, Underage Alcohol Violation, Lot 45. Contacted/Cited one person for UAL 1st (Muni) after they discarded an open container of Busch onto the ground when being spotted by Police. Two others with that person were verbally warned for Carrying Open Container (Muni).
- 9:47 pm, Underage Alcohol Violation, N. Park & W. Dayton Streets. Contacted/Cited person for UAL 1st (Muni) after observing them carrying an open bottle of Coors Lite and wandering into oncoming traffic. Person also verbally warned for Pedestrian Control Signals (Don't Walk), Carrying Open Container (Muni), and Obstructing/Resisting Officer (County).
- 11:09 pm, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Cited person for UAL 1st and Verbally Warned for fake ID (confiscated/destroyed) and possession of open intoxicants.
- 12:07 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Location Redacted. MFR transported person to local hospital due to incapacitation from alcohol, will follow up with UAL citation due to incapacitation.
- 12:33 am, Check Person, State & N. Lake Streets. Cited person for sudden pedestrian movement into traffic after they ran in front of two vehicles and squad while we had a green light at University Ave at Frances St. Upon attempting to make contact person ran, verbally warned for resisting.
- 1:25 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person due to incapacitation from alcohol, transported to local hospital, will follow up with UAL citation due to incapacitation.
- 2:05 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, N. Frances & W. Dayton Streets. Contacted/Cited person for UAL 1st (Muni) after observing them urinating on the Doyle Building. Verbally Warned for Depositing Human Waste (Muni).

- 2:44 am, Drug Violation, State Street. Contacted persons after observing the group using balloons to inhale Nitrous Oxide out of an Infusionwhip Strawberry Flavored N20 Cannister. The group was verbally warned for Possession of Nitrous Oxide and Abuse of Hazardous Substance but cited for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (County).
