Daily Blotter for November 12th 2024
- 9:00 am, Criminal Damage, Alumni Park. Person reported damaged custom, 3D printed, resin, "light bulb" sculpture.
- 9:17 am, Information, Educational Sciences Building. Contacted person who reported someone was in the Educational Psychology Department over the weekend in conference/break rooms and ate snacks that were left out for staff leaving crumbs and area messy.
- 9:34 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person experiencing medical emergency and MFR transported to local hospital.
- 11:34 am, Mental Health Welfare Check, Location Redacted. Contacted person experiencing mental health crisis.
- 12:51 pm, Harassment, Location Redacted. Contacted person who came to UWPD as directed by HR to report harassment/stalking to MPD on Friday 11/8 by coworker.
- 2:15 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported patient to local hospital, no police assistance needed.
- 3:00 pm, Battery, Location Redacted. Contacted person who reported that another person spit beer on them.
- 5:21 pm, Information, McBurney Resource Center. Received a mandatory report from the Office of Admission.
- 9:10 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Carver Street. Responded to the arboretum for a report of three shots fired in the Martin St/Carver St area along with MPD.
- 9:56 pm, Fraud, Residence Hall. Person reported they agreed to sell their basketball ticket but was not initially sent the full amount for the ticket. Once contacted by police the person receiving the ticket sent the full amount for the ticket to said person selling the ticket.
- 10:01 pm, Disorderly Conduct, UWPD. Contacted person who reported a vehicle possibly threw something at them while walking near Animal Science.
- 10:50 pm, Eluding, Johnson & Pinckney Streets. Attempted to stop vehicle after a DOT check on the vehicle showed the Registered Owner had a suspended Driver’s License. Vehicle located by Sun Prairie PD at Registered Owners address as occupants fled on foot upon contact.
- 1:45 am, Drug Violation, Chestnut & Kendall Ave. Verbally Warned person for imprudent speed and possession of marijuana.
Daily Blotter for November 11th 2024
- 8:48 am, Warrant Served, UWPD. Arrested person who came into UWPD lobby for property but had an active body only warrant. Booked into Dane County Jail without incident.
- 3:08 pm, Other, Lot 37. Traffic Stop - Stopped/detained/cited/released person for operating while suspended. Vehicle driven away by passenger with valid driver’s license.
- 3:22 pm, Information, UWPD. Contacted person who requested an officer to stand by in January 2025 when they return to campus and inform another person they do not want any contact with said person upon return to campus at a later time.
- 3:58 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person after another person reported they were vomiting and unresponsive to their surroundings after consuming 100mg of THC in a drink at a local bar. Person transported to local hospital by MFR.
- 4:37 pm, Theft/Larceny, Residence Hall. Contacted person who had their MacBook Air stolen sometime on 11/8-11/9.
- 2:14 am, Resisting Arrest, Extension Building. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for resisting while being placed into protective custody for detox evaluation.

- 11:56 am, Other, Local Hospital. Request For Assistance - Contacted person who is looking for an at-risk person from out of town. Person not located.
- 3:40 pm, Disorderly Conduct, Lot 63. Contacted person due to another person becoming violent while they were driving.
- 6:25 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, East Campus Mall. Contacted person who was found on East Campus Mall near Walgreens and reported to be PNB, but was not PNB but incapacitated due to alcohol consumption. Transported to local hospital and placed into protective custody.
- 7:49 pm, Underage Alcohol Violation, Kohl Center. Contacted/Ejected/Cited person for UAL 1st after locating them vomiting in a restroom.
- 10:34 pm, Check Person, Humanities Building. Observed person having difficulty running and appeared lost. Initial detox evaluation resulted in intoxicated not incapacitated, transported to local hotel and released.
- 1:07 am, Other, Johnson & Orchard. Stopped person for failure to obey red light, for failure to install IID and operating while revoked. Verbally warned for red light violation. Vehicle released to valid driver.

- 10:17 pm, Follow-up, Vilas hall. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for Misdemeanor Bail Jumping x2. for Selling, Peddling, and Soliciting Prohibited.
- 12:18 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Cited person for UAL 1st. after Housefellows located them in the bathroom vomiting.
- 12:26 am, Trespassing/After Hours, Bascom Hall. Contacted/cited 7 University of Illinois students for UW statutes unauthorized presence, conduct that endangers safety, and aiding/abetting. Another person cited for UAL 1st.
- 2:07 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, W. Dayton & N. Brooks Streets. Stopped/Verbally Warned person Theft after observing them carrying away a City of Madison street sign and cited for UAL 1st (City Ordinance) after admitting to consuming alcoholic beverages.

- 10:09 am, Motor Vehicle Accident, East Campus Mall & E. Dayton Street. Contacted person who backed into a light pole on the north west side of Gordon Dining and Event Center while working for UW Housing.

- 12:20 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, UWPD. Assisted Sun Prairie PD with one laptop and one gaming desktop computer.

Selling, Peddling, Soliciting Prohibited. Citation created for person during contact, actions are in violation the conditions of their bail by entering State and Langdon Ban Area to solicit for contributions, PC Affidavit completed and MPD aware.

- 10:35 am, Fraud, Residence Hall. Contacted person who reported they responded to a phishing email sent on 11/04/24 to their wisc.edu account for a personal assistant. Investigation ongoing at this time.
- 11:50 am, Found Property, University Apartments. Found Disney VISA debit card, unable to locate owner, entered into property for safekeeping.
- 11:55 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Call taken care of by MPD and MFR, no police assistance needed.
- 1:04 pm, Lost Property, UWPD. Contacted person who advised in April 2024 they lost their passport at an amusement park in New York, has had it replaced but wanted to know the steps to get a police report number in case they needed one for their Visa.
- 2:53 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Unknown person transported to local hospital, no police assistance needed.
- 7:52 pm, Other, Buckey Lot. Traffic Stop - Stopped person for operating with suspended registration. Verbally warned for OWS and suspended registration, vehicle legally parked.
- 10:24 pm, Theft/Larceny, Residence Hall. Contacted person regarding their laptop, accessories and clothing being stolen.
- 10:44 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Mifflin Street. Assisted MPD with a drone deployment reference a traffic stop and foot pursuit.
- 10:38 pm, Check Person, Humanities Building. Contacted/cited person for Closed Building Hours after UWPD security reported finding them seated inside during closed hours.
- 12:29 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Contacted person who was found vomiting by their roommate, cited for UAL 1st, to be delivered at a later date.
- 2:04 am, Other, Park & Emerald. Traffic Stop - No information provided at time of briefing release.

- 5:03 am, Follow-up, Local Hospital. Cited persons for bypassing security device and duplication of key card.
- 9:42 am, Graffiti, Law Building. Semi inspirational messages written on stall walls in red marker.
- 10:13 am, Damage to Property, Lot 46. Contacted person who was operating a vehicle when a piece of the concrete ramp fell from the ceiling, hitting their company van's windshield causing it to break.
- 12:36 pm, Other, Adams Hall. UW Code Violation - Verbally warned persons for bypassing security devices and campaigning in residence halls after they were observed on camera inside of Adams Hall after bypassing the security device to talk to students about voting, and all individuals were found to have a table set up in DeJope without a permit handing out campaign materials.
- 1:03 pm, Information, Lot 41. Transportation Services reported while issuing a citation to a vehicle they noticed a notebook with some disturbing images on open pages of the notebook. Investigation ongoing at this time.
- 1:17 pm, Theft/Larceny, Rennebohm Hall. Person reported 2 black HDMI cables stolen.
- 7:07 pm, Found Property, Animal Science. Apple Air Pod Pros located by UW-Security and placed into safekeeping.
- 12:24 am, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, University Ave. Assisted Shorewood Hills PD with a traffic stop when the driver exited and ran inside. Driver was uncooperative and resisted while being detained and then released to Shorewood Hills PD.
- 12:28 am, Information, Residence Hall. Contacted person via phone after they reported a person had been following them and screaming at them and they were frightened.
- 1:39 am, Check Person, Location Redacted. Person transported by MFR to local hospital for incapacitation due to alcohol after House Fellows requested a welfare check of the person.
- 3:16 am, Mental Health Welfare Check, Location Redacted. Contacted person experiencing mental health crisis.

- 8:17 am, Other, UWPD. Request For Assistance - Contacted person who requested a police report in order to obtain a new passport.
- 11:33 am, Theft/Larceny, Union South. Contacted person who reported their orange coat, valued at $80-100, which contained apartment keys and wallet, valued at $25, was taken after they left it unattended outside Varsity Hall.
- 11:42 am, Information, Local Hospital. Interviewed person who reported another person entered their room without consent.
- 2:12 pm, Theft/Larceny, Residence Hall. Contacted person who reported a package stolen from in front of the door.
- 2:28 pm, Found Property, UWPD. Contacted by phone person whose wallet was found at the Sylvee on 11/2/24 and turned in to UWPD. Person will pick up property on 11/5/24.
- 3:38 pm, Other, Kohl Center. K9 Deployment - Kohl Center Sweep for Men's Basketball game.
- 10:47 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Martin Street Lot. MPD started investigating a vehicle fire in the Martin St. Parking Lot of a potential stolen vehicle, investigation ongoing at this time.
- 10:57 pm, Theft/Larceny, Bakke Recreation Center. Contacted person who reported their jacket with airpods and wallet in the pocket were taken from court 3. Contacted by person who mistakenly took property and property was returned to owner.
- 11:40 pm, Other, Residence Hall. Caller reported person requesting assistance locating another person. Person located, no further action at this time.
- 2:47 am, Bail Jumping, State Street. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for Felony Bail Jumping x 4, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping x2, Criminal OAR and Failure to Install IID.

- 6:19 am, Damage to Property, Lot 46. Contacted person who advised someone got out of a vehicle and pushed the gate arm up at Lot 46 and caused damage to gate arm.
- 9:12 am, Information, Eagle Heights. Person reported someone entered their apartment: closed blinds, turned on a light, turned off phone alarm, and left candy/card outside door.
- 2:24 pm, Theft/Larceny, McClain Center. Person reported their electric scooter stolen.
- 11:33 pm, Follow-up, Residence Hall. Conducted follow up.
- 1:18 am, Check Person, Engineering Hall. Contacted person after they were reported by custodial staff sleeping on the first floor of Engineering Hall.
- 2:01 am, Other, Harborview Plaza - LaCrosse, WI. K9 Deployment - Assist DCSO Bomb Squad - Vance & Walz visit in La Crosse, WI.

- 11:00 am, Motor Vehicle Accident, Lot 46. Contacted person who reported a witness observed their vehicle being struck multiple times by another vehicle as they attempted to park in a stall.
- 11:33 am, Other, Lot 76. UW Code Violation - Cited person for UW bypass security device and verbally warned for same offense 16 times while exiting the lot between 09/04/24 and present day.
- 12:55 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported patient to local hospital no police assistance needed.
- 2:40 pm, Theft/Larceny, Camp Randall Stadium. Electric scooter stolen, will be in contact with victim upon return to Madison from out of state travel.
- 3:42 pm, Battery, Location Redacted. Contacted person who reported being shoved and struck in the face by another person not from the area. Incident ongoing with outside agency.

- 5:49 pm, Motor Vehicle Accident, Lot 60. Contacted person regarding their vehicle being struck and note left by person who hit their vehicle.
- 9:39 pm, Operating While Intoxicated, W. Johnson St. & East Campus Mall. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party person for OWI First, operating without valid drivers license, possession of open intoxicants operator violation of red traffic light, vehicle searched and parked in Sellery Hall parking lot.
- 10:29 pm, Operating While Intoxicated, W. Johnson & Marion Streets. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party person for OWI 1st, PAC 1st and failure to yield to pedestrian. Stopped for lightly hitting a pedestrian in a crosswalk as pedestrian had right of way.
- 11:03 pm, Resisting Arrest, Vilas Hall. Obstruction/Resisting - Cited one person after refusing to exit an Uber Drivers vehicle at drop off location. Once person was removed from the vehicle they were cited for obstructing/resistance.
- 12:12 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Contacted/Cited/Released person for UAL 1st. after Housefellow found them puking in the lobby.
- 12:54 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Contacted/Cited person for UAL 1st after being found vomiting in bathroom by Housefellows.
- 1:15 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Contacted person after Housefellows located them vomiting in the bathroom.
- 1:35 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Lowell Center. Contacted person after they fell several blocks away from Lowell injuring their knee. Person checked by MFR prior to transport to local hospital by UWPD, clearly intoxicated and cited for UAL 2nd to be issued at a later date.
- 1:37 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Contacted person after passerby called 911 because they were vomiting. Person is on probation with rules not to consume alcohol but DOC said they could be released.
- 1:53 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Transported person to detox after they were found on the ground at East Campus Mall passed out.
