Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP)

UW–Madison strives to be a reliable public institution. To ensure the fundamental mission of the university is protected at all times, the Emergency Management Unit supports Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP). COOPs are designed to plan for the continuation of essential services during a disaster or emergency.

What is COOP?

Should a disaster or emergency severely affect a UW-Madison or a UW System campus, the completed COOP will be activated. The COOP will ensure deliver of essential functions for up to 30 days and guide the “rebuilding” of the affected department or campus. COOP is a good business practice which is always being revised and updated to meet the current threats and vulnerabilities. Use the resources below to develop a COOP for your own department:
