Daily Blotter for January 30th 2026
- 1:16 pm, Motor Vehicle Accident, Observatory & Colwood Dr. Contacted person after they reported a hit and run accident that occurred between their vehicle and a Metro Bus on at Observatory Dr. and Colwoord Dr. Bus pulled out in front of them hitting their front passenger side mirror, and continued to drive away. Attempted to contact bus driver but continued to drive away. Follow up to be made with metro regarding damages and driver identification.
- 4:11 pm, Trespassing/After Hours, Humanities Building. Contacted/Cited person for trespass to land remain after notice after locating them on the ground floor of Humanities. Offered ride and cold weather gear, both declined.
- 5:03 pm, Information, Location Redacted. Contacted person who reported concern about an unidentified person who had been recording them and attempting to get their attention by pushing things underneath a table on Monday the 26th. Same subject followed them to the bathroom before friends confronted person and the suspect left on their own.
- 6:37 pm, Information, Location Redacted. Contacted person regarding sensitive crime.
- 7:32 pm, Found Property, Engineering Centers Building. Unable to contact person to return lost wallet turned into UWPD. Wallet and contents placed into UWPD safekeeping.
- 10:08 pm, Other, W. Johnson St. & East Campus Mall. Traffic Stop – Stopped/Verbally Warned driver for expired registration and possession of THC vape.
- 11:03 pm, Trespassing/After Hours, Humanities Building. Detained/Cited person for Trespass to Land - Remain After Notice and UW Closing Hours - Building after they were reported within the building by custodial staff. Person warned an additional contact within the building during the night may result in a custodial arrest.
- 12:09 am, Trespassing/After Hours, Lot 83. Person left lot prior to police arrival, citation to be delivered during next contact, however, they were reported and will be cited for Trespass to Land - Remain After Notice after they were found in parking Lot 83 by Transportation Services.
- 12:23 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Contacted/Cited person for UAL 1st after their friend called housefellows when person was unable to walk, MFR transported to local hospital due to incapacitation due to alcohol.

- 9:37 am, Found Property, Local Hospital. Contacted Hospital Security who found a wallet, investigation ongoing at this time.
- 10:11 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person needing medical assistance, but refused transport and left with spouse.
- 12:11 am, Operating While Intoxicated, University Ave. & Birge Terrace. Traffic Stop – Stopped/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party driver for OWI, PAC, Failing to move over for an emergency vehicle, and lane deviation. Driver also Verbally Warned for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
- 1:43 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, State Street. Cited person for City UAL 1st, verbally warned for open intoxicant.
- 3:59 am, Other, UWPD. Request For Assistance - Contacted/Transported to safe location seeking shelter for the night, no issues.
Daily Blotter for January 28th 2026
- 9:00 am, Fraud, Kohl Center. Person wanted to report that they believed their Credit Union CC had been stolen while attending a Men’s BB game at the Kohl Center due to fraudulent charges appearing on said card.
- 10:00 am, Graffiti, Humanities Building. Located graffiti inside stairwell 3rd floor northeast side of building.
- 11:39 am, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, UWPD. Assisted outside agency with 2 cell phone examinations.
- 12:12 pm, Found Property, Noland Hall. Found wallet with ID’s, placed into property for safekeeping while attempting to contact owner.
- 12:14 pm, Found Property, Noland Hall. iPhone in black case found, placed into property to try and find owner.
- 9:22 pm, Domestic, Location Redacted. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for Disorderly Conduct with the domestic enhancer.
- 10:37 pm, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Contacted/Cited person for UAL after being found in a bathroom on the floor unresponsive, MFR transported to local hospital for alcohol incapacitation.
- 1:58 am, Operating While Intoxicated, University & Farley Ave. Traffic Stop – Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party driver for Stopping/Standing On a Cross Walk, Exceeding Posted Limit, Operating While Impaired (1st), and Operating With Prohibited Alcohol Concentration.
- 3:55 am, Found Property, Biochem Labs. Lost & found black handbag with wallet containing WI ID and WISC card along with other misc cards, attempted phone contact, placed into safekeeping.
- 4:10 am, Trespassing/After Hours, Lot 83. Contacted/Cited person after they were located within the lot by Transportation Services.
Daily Blotter for January 27th 2026
- 6:09 am, Motor Vehicle Accident, Lot 75. Contacted persons after they were involved in a motor vehicle accident in Lot 75.
- 8:45 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Person injured while exercising, seen by MFR.
- 11:12 am, Theft/Larceny, Engineering Hall. Cited person for theft after they were seen taking the pride flag from the student center at Engineering Hall.
- 6:32 pm, Damage to Property, Camp Randall. Responded to Camp Randall for a fire alarm with MFD. Upon arrival, it was determined the alarm was set off from a ruptured pipe. A fire sprinkler head ruptured on the 3rd floor causing significant damage to several floors throughout the building.
- 10:39 pm, Follow-up, UWPD. Contacted person who provided further information regarding different case.
- 2:27 am, Check Person, Residence Hall. Contacted/detained/verbally warned person for bypass security device. Released without issue.
Daily Blotter for January 26th 2026
- 2:43 pm, Motor Vehicle Accident, Eagle Heights. Contacted person after their vehicle was involved in a hit and run, in the parking lot, while the other driver was delivering food to a residence in the area.
- 4:01 pm, Check Person, Kohl Center. Contacted person who was working Kohl Center Basketball, who reported being verbally accosted by patron at the event. Suspect attempted to steal giveaway items at event, was confronted by security, and became verbally disruptive before departing.
- 7:40 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person after they struck their head on another player while playing basketball, MFR transported to local hospital for medical treatment.
- 7:57 pm, Operating While Intoxicated, Gorham & Bassett Streets. Traffic Stop – Contacted/Stopped/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party driver for failure to obey stop sign, failing to obey sign/signal, possess open intoxicants, and OWI 1st.
Daily Blotter for January 25th 2026
- 4:56 am, Fire, Noland Hall. Observed Fire in 2nd Floor Lobby. Fire coming from electric heater located in the lobby area. Utilized fire extinguisher to put out open flames. Fire responded, assessed and aired out building.
- 4:30 pm, Found Property, UWPD. iPhone with cracked screen and gray case turned into UWPD, placed phone into safekeeping until able to locate owner.
- 6:51 pm, Underage Alcohol Violation, Johnson & Charter Streets. Traffic Stop – Stopped/Verbally Warned driver for operating without required lamps lit during hours of darkness and red-light violation, cited for municipal UAL 1st, verbally warned for false ID (confiscated/destroyed on scene).
- 10:09 pm, Found Property, Kohl Center. Passport turned into UWPD, contact made with owner who requested it be held in safekeeping and they would pick it up during business hours.
- 11:14 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person after being found in bathroom, transported to local hospital for detox from alcohol consumption.
- 11:36 pm, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Cited person for UAL 1st after they were found outside in the extreme cold weather for approximately 30 minutes, unknown group of persons contacted UWPD requesting person needed a welfare check due to level of alcohol intoxication.
- 12:13 am, Battery, Red Rock Saloon. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect after being flagged down outside Red Rock Saloon regarding a physical disturbance. Suspect continued to resist and battered two UWPD Officers causing injury. Suspect charged with disorderly conduct, resisting/obstruction, and two felony counts of battery to LEO.
- 1:37 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Person found by staff vomiting in the bathroom, not incapacitated, UAL citation to be issued.
Daily Blotter for January 24th 2026
- 9:06 am, Alarm, Location Redacted. Contacted person after their lab triggered a door open alarm, accidental, no assistance needed.
- 3:26 pm, Check Person, Humanities Building. Cited person for Unauthorized Presence after they were found on the 6th floor of Humanities in violation of a building ban. Escorted from the building, told not to return.
- 9:28 pm, Trespassing/After Hours, Lot 29. Contacted person after they were found in the east stairwell drinking alcohol, cited for trespass remain after notice.
- 10:33 pm, Fraud, Residence Hall. Contacted person who was contacted on 12/21/25 by Chinese "Embassy" and "Shanghai Police Department" who convinced them of a warrant for their arrest and sent them a "Copy" of the warrant. Confirmed scam, however, money transactions did take place, working with Chinese bank to try and retrieve the loss, Chinese Police have been contacted.
- 12:05 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Location Redacted. Contacted person after another resident observed them unstable on their feet and vomiting, MFR transported to local hospital for incapacitation due to alcohol.
- 2:41 am, Operating While Intoxicated, Hill St. & University Ave. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party for OWI 1st, PAC 1st, lane deviation, and UAL.
- 4:56 am, Fire, Noland Hall. Incident ongoing at time of briefing release.
Daily Blotter for January 23rd 2026
- 6:09 am, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Location Redacted. Assisted outside agency with search for armed carjacking suspect, assisted in establishing perimeter.
- 7:50 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person who needed medical assistance, MFR transported to local hospital.
- 2:15 pm, Theft/Larceny, Local Hospital. Contacted person after they reported theft of their partners money from their hospital room during their stay.
- 2:31 pm, Found Property, UWPD. Found wallet turned in by USPS, attempt to contact owner with no success, property placed into safekeeping until contact is made.
- 6:14 pm, Other, Marsh & University Bay Drive. Transported to safe location and cited them for UWS depositing human waste, after they were reported by Metro Bus driver to be acting intoxicated and disorderly on 80 route bus, causing driver to stop and offload passengers.
- 6:30 pm, Information, Lot 17. Report pulled in error.
- 10:13 pm, Drug Violation, Residence Hall. Contacted persons after residence halls personnel observed them smoking what they believed to be marijuana. Persons Verbally Warned for possession of the THCA (confiscated/disposed of), and for smoking within 25 feet of a residence hall.
- 11:14 pm, Mental Health Welfare Check, Location Redacted. Person was taken into protective custody during mental health crisis.
- 12:30 am, Bail Jumping, N. Park & W. Dayton Streets. Traffic Stop - Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail driver of vehicle after making contact with persons when their vehicle was disabled at the intersection without fuel. Upon contact with driver, they had an outstanding case not possess or consume alcohol, arrested for Bail Jumping (Felony), possession of THC (confiscated/destroyed) additional charges for threats to LEO for statements made to other officers during arrest.
- 12:30 am, Graffiti, Lot 7. Took report of graffiti to lower P3 East stairwell.
- 12:57 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person who was found by staff sleeping in a bathroom, MFR transported to local hospital for incapacitation by alcohol.
- 1:08 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted/Cited/Conveyed to local hospital by MFR, citation for UAL to be issued at a later date.
- 1:17 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted/Cited/Conveyed to local hospital by MFR person for UAL 2nd offense.
- 3:00 am, Operating While Intoxicated, Highland Ave & Campus Drive. Traffic Stop – Stopped/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party driver for Operate after Suspension of Registration, Operating While Impaired (1st), Keep Open Intoxicants in MV - Driver, and Possession of THC < 25 Grams (County) after observing driver and passenger switch seats after attempting to avoid being pulled over.

- 7:56 am, Trespassing/After Hours, Humanities Building. Cited person for trespass remain after notice after they were found again in Humanities and is aware they are banned.
- 4:31 pm, Threat Assessment, Location Redacted. Contacted person who reported threatening comments towards former colleagues.
- 12:32 am, Operating While Intoxicated, Regent St. & N. Randall Ave. Traffic Stop – Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party driver for OWI 1st, operating with prohibited alcohol content, also cited for red light violation, unsafe lane deviation and operating too fast for conditions, vehicle legally parked in Lot 16.

- 10:24 pm, Theft/Larceny, Tripp Hall. Contacted person who reported their winter gloves were stolen from the Tripp courtyard.
- 12:07 am, Disorderly Conduct, Charter & Johnson Streets. Traffic Stop – Stopped/Verbally Warned driver for Operating After Suspension of Registration. Driver then arrested for Threatening to Cause Bodily Harm to Certain Individuals Involved with a Court or Legal System after making threats, driver released upon educating proper use of due process.
