Daily Blotter for August 9th 2024
- 2:16 pm, Emergency Detention, Location Redacted. Emergency Detention of patient at local hospital.
- 1:13 am, Other, W. Johnson & N. Bassett Streets. Traffic Stop - Cited person for possession of open intoxicants. Stopped vehicle for operating without required lamps. Verbally warned for suspended registration, operating without required lamps and possession of THC.
- 2:05 am, Other, S. Park St. & Fish Hachery Road. Traffic Stop - Stopped/Verbally warned person for stop light violation and lane deviation. Verbally warned passenger for or possession of open intoxicant.
- 2:28 am, Check Person, N. Frances & W. Dayton Streets. Contacted person who was sitting in a running car with the door partially open near State St. at bar close. There was a package of synthetic marijuana open in the backseat in plain view. Searched the vehicle. Located a total of three empty bags of synthetic marijuana. Released without incident.
Daily Blotter for August 8th 2024
- 8:17 am, Other, Humanities Building. Request for assistance - Contacted person after they turned in a stainless-steel kitchen knife to UWPD lobby. Knife discovered tucked under a table in rear of Humanities Auditorium while doing electrical work.
- 10:05 am, Graffiti, Memorial Union. Found graffiti in men's room on urinal divider in the corner.
- 2:21 pm, Damage to Property, Gordon Commons. While responding to call at Gordon Commons, observation made that the northernmost UW bus shelter on the west side of Lake Street had spider webbed cracking on its northern end.
- 2:40 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, UWPD. Assisted Oregon PD with a phone associated with an ICAC investigation.
- 2:46 pm, Graffiti, Gordon Commons. While responding to call at Gordon Commons, observation made that the southernmost UW bus shelter on the west side of Lake Street had graffiti on its southern end.
- 3:06 pm, Other, Local Hospital. Request for assistance - Contacted person discharged from local hospital and being transferred to another facilty being combative and fighting with hospital security.
- 9:45 pm, Found Property, Local Hospital. Brown billfold w/ multiple financial cards found inside hospital emergency room. Property placed into property for safekeeping.
- 11:31 pm, Operating While Intoxicated, N. Randall Ave. & W. Dayton St. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party for OWI (1st) and exceeding speed zones 49/30.
- 11:33 pm, Other, S. Park Street. Traffic Stop - Stopped person for operating at high speed (44 in 25). Person cited for Criminal OAR and Speeding and verbally warned for non-registration.

- 12:09 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Observatory Dr. MFR transported person to local hospital, no PD assistance needed.
- 12:09 pm, Motor Vehicle Accident, Lot 75. Returned call to person after they called UWPD to report the vehicle they had parked in Lot 75 between 11:45 am-4:00 pm on 08/02/24 had been struck while unoccupied.
- 2:02 pm, Theft/Larceny, Engineering Hall. Contacted person who locked their bike to the north rack 2 or three months ago and now is no longer in that same location.
- 4:15 pm, Information, ERB. Contacted person who shipped a $35,000 camera from ERB but it is now missing.
- 4:37 pm, Emergency Detention, Local Hospital. Completed Emergency Detention for person experiencing mental health crisis.
- 4:55 pm, Other, East Gilman St. LRAS Assist/Rescue Run - Took exhausted windsurfer back to Hoofers from UW LRAS station.
- 6:45 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported person to local hospital, no PD assistance needed.
- 8:14 pm, Other, MSC. Closing Hours Violation - Contacted person who was found in Humanities after hours by UWPD Security.
Daily Blotter for August 6th 2024
- 6:25 am, Trespassing/After Hours, Computer Science Building Construction Site. Contacted Findorff site manager who reported that sometime over the weekend, possibly Saturday night, 3-4 M/W individuals were on the crane and inside the construction site for CDIS.
- 9:46 am, Theft/Larceny, Residence Hall. Contacted person who reported a speaker for move-in that was being stored in the basement has gone missing.
- 10:03 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported patient to local hospital, no PD assistance needed.
- 12:45 pm, Information, HSLC. Contacted person who reports that on the sidewalk on the north side of HSLC, they saw a person gasping and possibly in distress. Additional follow up being conducted.
- 8:02 pm, Found Property, Found on State Street/Turned into UWPD. Someone located a phone in the 600 block of state street. Put into property for safekeeping.
- 4:49 am, Eluding, Fish Hatchery Rd & Spruce St. Attempted to stop vehicle for high speed (44/25). Vehicle was slow to stop for multiple blocks before accelerating away at over 45MPH. Did not pursue.
Daily Blotter for August 5th 2024
- 3:02 am, Found Property, UWPD. A blue Apple I-Phone was turned in, by an Uber driver, at the UWPD after a client had left it in their vehicle.
- 5:39 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, UWPD Lobby. Contacted person after they walked into the UWPD lobby complaining that they couldn't walk. Transported to local hospital by MFR.
- 12:17 am, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Local Hospital. Assisted Marquette Co. Sheriff’s Office with a blood draw warrant for suspect.

- 11:23 am, Theft/Larceny, Lot 29. Contacted person who reported their bike was stolen overnight.
- 5:21 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, UWPD Lobby. Contacted person experiencing medical emergency.
- 9:17 pm, Other, Location Redacted. Contacted person at local hospital emergency room due to a dog bite.
- 12:25 am, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Sinykin Ct. Assisted Maple Bluff & Madison PD with a drone deployment regarding a vehicle pursuit which led to a foot bail. Suspect located via drone.
- 12:53 am, Warrant Served, S. Park & Braxton Streets. Stopped/Verbally Warned person for no visible plate. Detained person due to having a warrant. Warrant confirmed with DCJ, papers served, person was released.
- 2:55 am, Eluding, E. Dayton & Pickney Streets. Attempted to stop a vehicle after they turned wrong way onto W Johnson St from Wisconsin Ave.

- 1:16 pm, Graffiti, Wendt Library. Multiple instances of unreadable graffiti along the handrail surrounding the library in marker and paint.
- 7:31 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Location Redacted. Assisted MFD with medical emergency.
- 11:44 pm, Eluding, S. Bassett St. & W. Washington Ave. Attempted to stop vehicle unknown make/model, for unreasonable & imprudent speed.
- 1:24 am, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Local Hospital. Assisted the City of Madison Police Department with arresting an Emergency Detention patient after they attacked an MPD Officer in a local hospital bathroom.
- 2:23 am, Domestic, University Ave. & Babcock Dr. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for domestic DC, domestic intimidation of a victim and OWI 1st.
Daily Blotter for August 2nd 2024
- 7:15 am, Harassment, Location Redacted. Contacted, person after they contacted UWPD to report lascivious and lewd text messages sent to them by an unknown individual from an unknown number on 07/31/24 from 3:37-7:13 pm that disturbed them and caused them to fear for their safety.
- 11:09 am, Information, Memorial Union. Union ban issued.
- 12:12 pm, Theft/Larceny, Lot 75. Contacted person for a theft report of their electric skateboard that was taken from lot 75.
- 10:04 pm, Information, Local Hospital. Contacted person reporting they were having a panic attack and wanting to harm themselves.
- 10:14 pm, Other, Eagle Heights. Animal Care - Contacted person who was bitten by a dog.
- 2:05 am, Operating While Intoxicated, Park St & Haywood. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Released to Responsible Party person for OWI (1st), PAC (1st), exceed speed zones 42/25 and Operating without a License.
Daily Blotter for August 1st 2024
- 12:35 pm, Fire, Lot 203. Contacted person with hospital security at Lot 203, who called with regards to fire damage to one of the parking lot light poles and to the bench inside the bus shelter.
- 8:08 pm, Theft/Larceny, Memorial Union. Contacted person regarding their wallet, keys, and cell phone were stolen from under the awning outside of Hoofer's sometime between 5:30pm and 7:45pm. Suspect identified, items returned to person and suspect cited for UW Code Theft ($100-$1000) and released.
- 10:14 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Local Hospital. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for 2 extraditable warrants out of Kenosha and 1 extraditable warrant out of Illinois.
- 12:40 am, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, E. Main & S. Blair Streets. Disregarded prior to arrival for drone deployment for lack of perimeter.
- 3:55 am, Information, Monroe St. & Randall Ave. Arrested/Cited/Released person for Misd. Resisting/Obstructing, Operating While revoked and county possession of THC.

- 12:42 pm, Other, Location Redacted. Request For Assistance - Contacted persons who state they left for work they noticed something suspicious requesting police assistance.
- 5:22 pm, Follow-up, University Ave. Conducting follow up with Metro Bus.
- 6:51 pm, Motor Vehicle Accident, Observatory Dr & Highland Ave. Contacted person who was rear ended by another vehicle at the in the westbound lanes of Observatory while stopped at a red light.
- 8:18 pm, Motor Vehicle Accident, Highland Ave. Contacted person regarding earlier hit and run accident at Observatory Dr and Highland Ave. and driver of other vehicle was identified. Person cited for hit and run (occupied vehicle). Citation issued and explained in person.
- 9:16 pm, Mental Health Welfare Check, Location Redacted. Completed Emergency Detention for person experiencing mental health crisis.
