Daily Blotter for May 6th 2025
- 6:58 am, Graffiti, Memorial Library. Located poster which was glued to wall. Unable to determine what the poster depicted due to an attempt to remove it.
- 11:40 am, Information, Local Hospital. Person reports suspected abuse within elevator. After review of the camera footage, no suspected abuse occurred. Due to nature of complaint, informational report to be completed.
- 12:16 pm, Mental Health Welfare Check, Location Redacted. Contacted person experiencing mental health crisis.
- 2:28 pm, Theft/Larceny, Local Hospital. Theft of Copper from the loading dock "Copper for kids" bin.
- 2:51 pm, Other, Residence Hall. Identity Theft - Contacted person regarding emails they received about two new bank accounts being opened under their name, suspected identity theft and advised on next steps with credit bureaus and bank accounts.
- 7:21 pm, Graffiti, Lot 105. Contact person who reported observing graffiti on the large dumpster in Lot 105.
- 9:38 pm, Theft/Larceny, Memorial Library. Contacted person who reported their scooter stolen from the bike racks on the south side of Memorial Library.
- 11:59 pm, Alarm, Location Redacted. Checked the area, no police assistance needed.
- 3:04 am, Information, Location Redacted. Contact with person from out of state needing assistance, potential mental health concerns.
Daily Blotter for May 5th 2025
- 1:14 pm, Theft/Larceny, Residence Hall. Contacted person regarding theft of items on May 4th that they took from Residence Hall laundry room. Person will be cited for UWS18.12(6)(b) and will return stolen clothing to owner later today.
- 6:57 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Local Hospital. Hospital Security requested UWPD to take possession of the property belonging to patient that involved items that needed to be safely and securely stored until patient was able to obtain them once released from the hospital.
- 8:02 pm, Found Property, UWPD 1429 Monroe Street. Found property is a black phone and unable to identify owner. Packaged phone and submitted to evidence.
- 12:02 am, Operating While Intoxicated, Orchard and Regent Streets. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for OWI 2nd after emergent request from MFD for intoxicated driver.
- 2:58 am, Motor Vehicle Accident, Lot 6. Contacted person after they reported their vehicle was hit while parked in Lot 6 unoccupied causing minor damage to the rear passenger side.

- 11:36 am, Theft/Larceny, Memorial Union/Hoofers Dock. Contacted person regarding phone who advised they set their purple backpack down between the upside-down white boats and went out on a boat for about an hour, returned and backpack had been gone through and items had been stolen.
- 2:12 pm, Other, Lot 83. K9 Deployment - K9 Ritter checked suspicious Styrofoam cooler left on hood of vehicle in Lot 83. No positive alert, cooler was empty.
- 6:09 pm, Extortion, Location Redacted. Contacted person who reported being contacted by an unknown individual from Instagram account. sent person photos and personal information and was then being extorted for money.
- 11:04 pm, Bail Jumping, Johnson & Carroll Streets. Stopped/Cited person for Operating While Revoked (Forfeiture 4th+) and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Passenger legally drove vehicle away.
- 11:18 pm, Other, Highland Ave & VA Hospital. Stopped/Verbally Warned person for no tail lights and vehicle not in “auto lights mode”.
- 1:55 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person who was stumbling down the sidewalk near downtown parking ramp, not able to answer basic questions and transported to detox/released without incident.

- 8:36 am, Other, East Campus Mall Pedestrian Tunnel. Weapons Violation - Contacted persons regarding an unknown person drawing a weapon and threatening them with it in the East Campus Pedestrian Tunnel.
- 8:53 am, Check Person, WID. Cited person for UW Disorderly Conduct after verbal altercation with another person in the WID.
- 9:19 am, Damage to Property, Lot 75. Contacted Transportation Services at their office, reviewed footage of accident in Lot 75 and appeared the drivers foot slipped off the break as they were reaching for the ticket at gate one, no crime committed, report pending.
- 5:17 pm, Found Property, Martin Street Lot. Found property several empty Alpha Retail Anti-Theft devices dumped and found by Arboretum staff, unable to locate owner of devices.
- 7:00 pm, Found Property, UWPD - 1429 Monroe Street. Contacted person who stated their friend lost their phone and thought it could be stolen, used "find my iPhone" and recovered friends’ phone and an additional black apple iPhone near it. Incident occurred last week and came to turn in today.
- 1:51 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Contacted person after an unknown party called on duty house fellows reporting they were passed out in the lobby, person transported to local hospital for treatment, UAL 3rd citation to be delivered on a different date.
- 4:32 am, Bail Jumping, Chazen Museum. Contacted/Cited person for Misdemeanor Bail Jumping after finding them sleeping with a lit candle by them and per Dane County Case person shall not be within the State Street and Langdon Ban area nor possess any incendiary device or material. Person also Verbally Warned for UW code camping and escorted out of the State Street and Langdon Ban area.

- 8:00 am, Motor Vehicle Accident, Lot 75. Contacted persons regarding motor vehicle accident.
- 9:08 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported person to local hospital needing medical treatment.
- 10:04 am, Theft/Larceny, Memorial Union. Contacted person regarding theft of their bike taken from the bike racks from the West side of Memorial Union next to Park Circle.
- 11:45 am, Theft/Larceny, Smith Hall. Contacted person regarding theft of their e-scooter taken from the bike rack on the back side of Smith Hall by the bike path.

- 3:27 pm, Check Person, Lot 6. Contacted person for attempting to get into an occupied vehicle in Lot 6 by pulling on the door handle and was found in the Memorial Union by staff in a staff only area.
- 4:51 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. UWPD transported person to local hospital needing medical treatment.

- 9:20 pm, Theft/Larceny, Mechanical Engineering. Contacted person who reported their black zip up sweater and grey canvas lunch bag had been taken from locked room.
- 12:36 am, Other, Lake Street & University Ave. Traffic Stop - Stopped/Cited/Released on foot driver for Operating While Revoked (Criminal), also cited for Ignition Interlock Device Tampering/Fail to Install/Violate Court Order.
- 1:22 am, Found Property, Park & Langdon Streets. Traffic Stop & Found Property - Stopped/Verbally Warned person for Failure to Stop at Stop Sign, Operate After Suspension of Registration given 21 days to correct registration status. Driver also turned over wallet they found, placed into property for safekeeping and attempts to locate owner.

- 1:01 pm, Theft/Larceny, Lot 46. Contacted person regarding their five-gallon gas jug taken from the bed of their vehicle.
- 2:33 pm, Harassment, Location Redacted. Contacted person who was reporting having found on two different occasions, two sheets of paper with harassing language on them, one in their personal locker in building.
- 2:52 pm, Fraud, Location Redacted. Contacted person regarding their phone and computer getting spam and subsequently suffered a mental health crisis.
- 2:54 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported person to local hospital for medical treatment.
- 3:14 pm, Theft/Larceny, Memorial Union. Contacted person who reported their backpack stolen from the Memorial Union, then found it near the University Book Store on State St with nothing missing.

- 6:15 pm, Theft/Larceny, Memorial Union. Contacted person about their speaker being stolen during a fundraiser event.
- 8:19 pm, Theft/Larceny, Sterling Hall. Contacted person who reported the theft of a box of gloves and bottle of Clorox from a custodial cart.

- 12:57 am, Theft/Larceny, Local Hospital. Contacted person who was reporting a theft from their belongings during stay at local hospital.

- 1:47 pm, Theft/Larceny, Engineering Centers Building. Contacted person who reported a battery pack taken from the basement of Engineering Centers Building.
- 1:54 pm, Burglary, Residence Hall. Contacted person who reported the theft of theirs red UW-Madison Badgers basketball jersey from their dorm room.
- 2:06 pm, Theft/Larceny, Memorial Union Terrace. Contacted person who reported items stolen from the Memorial Union Terrace.
- 2:11 pm, Motor Vehicle Accident, Lot 20. Person pulled too far forward while entering Lot 20 and light bumped the articulated gate arm causing gate arm to push forward and is now hanging downward at an angle.
- 2:47 pm, Theft/Larceny, Witte Residence Hall. Contacted person who reported their bike stolen from outside Witte Residence Hall.
- 6:49 pm, Other, Memorial Library. Unauthorized Presence - Contacted person who was found inside the Memorial Library, cited for unauthorized presence and re-issued ban letter.

- 10:48 am, Information, UWPD. Contacted person who requested assistance addressing a social media account which was impersonating them.
- 11:01 am, Graffiti, East Campus Mall. Graffiti found on both walls of East Campus Mall pedestrian tunnel.
- 2:28 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Local Hospital. Retrieved sensitive crime kit from local hospital and plated into evidence to be retrieved by other law enforcement agency at a later date.
- 5:22 pm, Mental Health Welfare Check, Location Redacted. Person requested a welfare check on someone experiencing a mental health crisis.
- 11:44 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, W. Gillman Street. Assisted MPD regarding a resistive subject who was arrested by MPD. No need for further assistance.

- 12:43 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Dayton & Frances Streets. Responded to road rage incident with unknown suspect brandishing firearm from inside vehicle.
- 3:13 pm, Other, Residence Hall. Recovered property - Contacted person regarding a bicycle they had discovered on the northwest corner of the building and was returned to owner without incident.
- 5:35 pm, Theft/Larceny, Helen C. White Library. Contacted person who reported their backpack with property taken from the second-floor computer lab in HC White Library, suspect located, cited for theft and property returned to owner.
- 7:36 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person after they were observed laying on the ground next to the train tracks, transported to local hospital for treatment.
- 11:51 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Local Hospital. Assisted Sauk County Sheriff's Office Deputy McCarty with a search warrant for a legal blood draw on patient.

- 2:38 pm, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Contacted/Cited/Released person after they were found intoxicated in the lobby of the building.
- 2:55 pm, Underage Alcohol Violation, Nicholas Recreation Center. Contacted/Cited/Released for UAL and MFR transported to local hospital.
- 3:53 pm, Underage Alcohol Violation, Residence Hall. Contacted/Cited/Released for UAL after housing asked for their ID and they provided a vape.
- 5:12 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Residence Hall. Cited person for UAL 1st after persons advised they were stumbling on their feet and vomited.
- 5:14 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Residence Hall. Contacted/Cite/Released after being found by someone sleeping on the floor and unable to wake up.
- 6:55 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Person transported to local hospital by MFR, no police assistance needed.
- 10:09 pm, Underage Alcohol Violation, Alumni House. Cited person for UAL 1st.
- 10:33 pm, Check Person, Residence Hall. Contacted person for being intoxicated and not a resident of residence hall and refusing to ID themselves.
- 10:37 pm, Theft/Larceny, Residence Hall. Contacted person who left their bike outside the main entrance to Dejope using a broken lock to make it look locked and found it missing later that same night.
- 1:25 am, Other, Lot 29. Traffic Stop - Stopped/Cited/Released person for operating while suspended and violating red traffic light, after they were reported leaving UW Lot 29 after lifting up the gate.
