The UW-Madison Police Department is investigating a recent string of e-scooter and e-bike thefts on campus. Four e-scooter thefts occurred throughout the evening on Wednesday, September 25 — one from outside the Educational Sciences building, one from outside Mechanical Engineering, and two from outside Labahn Arena.

In addition to these four recent thefts, UWPD continues investigating several additional e-scooter and e-bike thefts that prompted a Crime Warning last week.

Thefts are never the fault of the victim. Please consider the following to potentially prevent similar crimes from occurring in the future:

  • Purchase an anti-theft device or a heavy-duty lock for your bike or scooter
  • Consider parking in a garage or other secure area
  • Park in visible, well-lit areas
  • Record serial numbers and take photos of your bike and/or scooter.
  • Be sure to IMMEDIATELY report a theft to UWPD. Time is of the essence.

If you have information about these thefts, please call the UW-Madison Police Department at 608-264-2677. You can also submit tips on UWPD’s BaderSAFE app.
